New South Wales (NSW)
New South Wales is the Australian State with the largest population. The capital city of New South Wales is Sydney, which is also Australia's oldest and most populous city.
Many people who are not familiar with Australia mistakenly think Sydney is Australia's capital, but in fact that distinction belongs to Canberra which is located some 300km to the south. Sydney itself is a bustling metropolis with a population of close to 5 million people and is one of the worlds great cities.
A significant mountain range known as the Great Dividing Range runs from north to south through the entire length of New South Wales and the majority of the States people live along the coast between the mountains and the sea.
New South Wales offers a variety of lifestyles and climates, from mild and temperate in the south to sub-tropical in the north.
